stream of whatever #2
October 7th, 2004 18:10Josh looked at his watch. She should be here by now, he figured. 10:15. They'd agreed on 10 sharp, so she should be here anytime now. Or did he say 10:15 by mistake? They'd better not miss the train, the next one was four hours away.
But then, that might not be a bad idea. Four hours to just sit around, relax, get a coffee, maybe even a bite to eat. It's not like it was urgent or anything, just going over to her parents' place for the weekend. But still, maybe if... no, shut up. For the last time, she's not carefully gauging every stupid move of yours to pick them apart and mock you to her friends behind your back! Those polite smiles her male friends give you are just that, polite smiles you make to a stranger. Now please, Mr. Corvis, just shut the fuck up, relax, and act like a normal decent human being already!
Yes. Of course. That's what he'd do. Relax. Lean against that wall-wait, hold on, check if there's paint or dirt or whatever on it, okay. Just act casual, smooth down your jacket, nonono not like that, that's geeky!, alright, there ya go. But should he really do this, though? It's private property, and Josh could swear people were looking at him from inside the coffee shop.
Well, let them look! What's wrong with looking? There you are, a handsome young man with some manner of brains, some prospects, some... oh for God's sake, it's hopeless. Here he was, fresh out of college, no job, no skills, doesn't know a damn thing about the real world, and he's trying to impress this chick? Fuck, that's fuckin' fucked up, eh. Who in the world would ever...
A woman walked up, smiled and said hi.
He turned. No, it wasn't her. But who was she then? Where'd he know her? What's her name? Well, she was hot though. Anyway, he should answer back. Would be rude not to.
Josh got out about half a hi in return when she continued past him to her friend.
Well, at least that explained why he couldn't remember her name. He stood there, mouth hanging half-open, hand half-raised, for a moment before shrugging and going back to his post.
