applying the lyrics to Spanish Sahara to Max's situation post-Bay Ending rather than Chloe's

the extreme likelihood that once the focus ended Max put the photo into her journal just as she did the destroyed Windows piece

the fact that the photo used for the focus was taken after Max had already started using her powers, so this is not a perfect symbol of the power being used to consume itself

the way the butterfly lands on the edge of the coffin just like the bucket

the look on Max's face

...this actually mirrors my headcanon for the "lie to Rachel" ending in BtS, where of course Chloe would have told her the truth days if not hours if not immediately after that incredibly awkward dinner

now if only there were a secret combo in LiS that lets you sacrfice Arcadia and save Joyce :(

...and right after posting this someone reports a bug in Hideous Destructor that needs to be worked out by watching myself get shot and fall to the ground over and over again

i'll take this as a sign the fates approve of this analysis

Of course if she ends up choosing Bay again this creates a time loop.

Possibly we could call that bluff and let whatever powers enabled Max's time travel break that loop by some other means, or Max could write a note on the photo... that somehow doesn't tip off Chloe prematurely.
